The “Mirai Human Washing Machine” (ミライ人間洗濯機) is a fully automatic bathing pod that washes and dries you in about 15 minutes.

It became one of the biggest sensations of Expo 2025 Osaka: 1,227 visitors tried it, and 98.3% of the 847 survey respondents said they were satisfied.

The Expo is over, but here is the good news.

You can still experience it in Japan, at permanent locations in Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido.

This guide covers where, how much, and how to book (updated 2026).

Quick Summary: Where to Try It in Japan (2026)

What is the Human Washing Machine?

It was developed by Osaka-based company Science Co., the maker of the “Mirable” fine-bubble shower head.

It is a reclining bath pod with a dark curved canopy.

You simply sit back.

Warm water filled with fine bubbles cleans your skin without any soap, and sensors monitor your condition.

The session ends as the water drains and strong air dries you — all automatic, in roughly 15 minutes.

The commercial model sells in Japan for 60 million yen (about US$385,000).

That is exactly why trying it at a hotel or showroom is the realistic way to experience it.

For a sure slot, book Dotonbori Crystal Hotel III in Osaka. It takes web reservations, with no lottery.

Where you can try it (2026)

1. Dotonbori Crystal Hotel III — the most reliable option

A hotel in the heart of Osaka’s Dotonbori area runs the machine as a private in-room experience.

From ¥18,000 for 90 minutes (2 guests or more), web reservation only. No lottery, so this is the most reliable way to get in. Children aged 11 and under cannot use it (booking site, checked October 3, 2026).

The session includes bubble cleansing, warm mist and a relaxation bath.

2. ES CON FIELD HOKKAIDO Hotel — Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido

Next to ES CON FIELD (home stadium of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters), this station-front hotel installed the machine in its private sauna facility “Stem Sauna Lab”.

It has been open since March 31, 2026, the first in Hokkaido.

¥12,000 for 2–3 people plus ¥2,200 per extra person (up to 7).

The official booking page says “hotel guests only” (checked 10 September 2026), and its booking button leads to room reservations.

If you want day use, confirm it with the hotel before you plan around it.

Swimwear is required (rental available). Perfect to combine with a baseball game or a Hokkaido trip.

3. Yamada Denki LABI Ikebukuro — free, by lottery

The electronics retailer Yamada Denki displays a demo unit at its LABI1 Ikebukuro flagship store.

It also holds free trial events by lottery.

Entry requires a Yamada digital membership, so this route is more realistic for residents than for short-term visitors.

But the display itself is worth seeing if you are in Tokyo.

4. Minoh Onsen Spa Garden — new in October 2026

A major hot-spring theme park in Minoh (northern Osaka) introduced the machine when it reopened on October 1, 2026 — the first onsen facility to do so.

One private room, ¥11,000 per session (90 min, 2–4 people, junior-high age and up), plus the facility entrance fee.

Adults pay ¥2,420 on weekdays, ¥2,860 at weekends and on holidays, ¥3,190 on peak days, or ¥2,090 after 17:00 (checked on the official site, 8 September 2026).

Four people therefore pay ¥5,170 each on a weekday, plus the local bathing tax.

Important rules for Minoh Onsen (open since October 1, 2026)

Advance online booking: not available

How to get a slot: same-day, first-come, first-served at the 1F bath reception desk

Tip: slots are limited each day. Day visitors can enter from 9:00, so arrive when the doors open (the 7:30 start is for overnight guests already inside)

Tattoos: the facility refuses entry to guests with tattoos unless they can be completely covered with no more than two of its own paid cover stickers (official rules, checked 17 September 2026). Full house rules in our Minoh guide

If you are travelling from far away specifically for this, treat it as a bonus rather than a guarantee.

Even if the machine is full, every one of the 68 shower taps in the building uses Mirable Ex.

That is the same fine-bubble technology.

If you want to stay overnight, the adjoining hotel “Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Minoh Kanko Hotel” reopened on the same day.

Any rules I should know before I go? Tattoos, age, anything like that?

人間洗濯機
編集部

Yes, there are limits. For the full model, height 120–200 cm and weight under 90 kg.

Venues set their own rules too, so confirm them when you book.

Live in the US and want a Mirable shower head?

Mirable is sold only in Japan. We are checking whether enough people want one shipped to the US. If enough do, we will start with a small number of orders.

  • Price = the Japanese retail price (Mirable Ex is ¥38,500 incl. tax) + our 30% service fee + international shipping + US import duty. You get the total in writing first.
  • Nothing is charged or shipped until you accept the written quote.
  • We buy a new unit from an authorized retailer and send you photos before shipping.
  • The warranty is valid in Japan only. No exchanges or refunds after delivery.
  • Fit: Mirable Ex uses a G1/2 thread; most US shower arms use 1/2-inch NPT, so you may need an adapter. We check this with you first.

US addresses only for now. Tornado Stick cartridges only with a shower head order.

Q. Are there height/weight limits?A.

For the full model: height 120–200 cm, weight under 90 kg (per the official purchase checklist).
